Ayous and White Teak shutters
For our Samoa range of shutters, we use the highest grade Ayous and White Teak. Ayous is a hardwood which is extremely easy to work with, holds nails and screws well, glues well, and is therefore extremely popular with those that work with timber. It is also capable of an excellent finish. White Teak is a fast-growing deciduous tree, originating from the Solomon Islands and is one of the strongest and most beautiful woods in the worlds, known for its smooth finish and silvery grain.
The high oil content found in Teak gives it a natural resistance to rot. Plus, the smooth texture and fine, straight grain not only gives it a beautiful finish, but it also makes it easy to carve into tricky designs, the perfect solution for window shutters and odd shaped openings. Teak is so strong and stable that it holds its form and needs little or no extra support as the wood is so strong.
We use Ayous for our Samoa range shutters when customers require a paint finish (23 paints to choose from). For stain finishes (all 27 of them) we tend to use Teak.
