John and Ben were in Purely, Surrey to carry out this interesting installation for a client who had recently moved into a converted flat which was originally an office.
Because of this their bedroom was open to and overlooked the kitchen area. The customer was looking for a solution which could close off this opening when required. Here is the end result…
We used a Fiji hardwood track system with a room darkening blind attached at the back. This allows for the client to use either the shutters, the blind or both together! The track system created privacy but could easily be opened during the day so they would not lose the natural lighting created through the sky light windows. In this photo you can see the track shutters neatly moved out the way to the right.
The shutters feature thick 89mm louvres with a hidden tilt rod system to create a modern, minimalistic look and were finished in a lovely white painted finish to match with their décor and look of the flat. The white blind can be pulled down with or without the shutters creating a different look and near room darkening when required. The client was delighted with the end result both for functionality and looks!
